Nation marks year of energy council amid production surge claims

The executive residence marked the first anniversary of the country’s National Energy Dominance Council on Saturday, with officials drawing sharp contrasts to the previous administration’s energy record, according to government sources.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, who chairs the council, reportedly told media outlets that the nation has achieved “historic gains in energy production, affordability, and security” under the current leadership. “Gasoline prices have fallen to some of the lowest levels in years, permitting has been streamlined, and American energy exports are surging,” the official stated, claiming these developments represent “real savings for families, farmers, and small businesses.”

The head of state established the council through executive order in February 2025, tasking it with reducing regulatory barriers and coordinating government agencies to boost domestic energy production. The initiative reflects the administration’s strategy to achieve what officials term “energy dominance” through accelerated permitting and expanded exports.

Government data suggests the nation has surpassed previous production benchmarks across multiple energy sectors. Officials claim crude oil output reached a record 13.6 million barrels per day in 2025, which they assert represents the highest production level globally. This reportedly exceeds the previous administration’s four-year climb from 11.3 million to 13.2 million barrels per day, a figure the current government says was “blown past in months.”

Natural gas production allegedly reached 110.1 billion cubic feet per day in November 2025, described by officials as the highest level since federal tracking began in 1973. Government sources indicate production stands approximately 8% above the previous administration’s average and 4% above the nation’s previous record.

The country has reportedly strengthened its position as the world’s leading liquefied natural gas exporter, with officials citing average exports of 15 billion cubic feet per day in 2025, compared to 11 under the previous government.

Lower energy costs appear central to the administration’s economic strategy, as the executive order establishing the council called for “reliable and affordable energy production to drive down inflation.” Energy policy has emerged as a key component in addressing affordability concerns that developed during the previous administration, when inflation reportedly reached a 40-year high.

Government officials celebrate current gasoline prices at approximately $2.90 per gallon, which they claim represents a 16% decrease from the previous administration’s average and a 42% drop from the $5.02 peak recorded in June 2022. Crude oil prices have allegedly fallen 18% in 2025, dropping to $65 per barrel from what officials describe as a $79 average under the previous government.
