Defense Ministry Reviews Youth Organization Over Ideology Concerns

The nation’s defense ministry is reportedly moving to overhaul its partnership with the country’s largest youth scouting organization, demanding the group abandon what officials describe as ideological policies to maintain federal support.

The review focuses on the ministry’s financial relationship with Scouting America, formerly known as the Boy Scouts of America, including the department’s involvement in the organization’s National Jamboree, according to Sean Parnell, an assistant to the defense secretary for public affairs, who made the announcement via social media.

Parnell described the scouting organization as “a great organization” that has allegedly “lost its way” in recent years, reflecting broader tensions over social policies that have emerged since the current administration took power.

“But, for more than a decade now, Scouting America’s leadership has made decisions that run counter to the values of this administration and this Department of War, including an embrace of DEI and other social justice, gender-fluid ideological stances. This is unacceptable,” he wrote, using terminology that has become central to the ruling party’s cultural agenda.

The announcement comes as the head of state has signed executive orders targeting diversity, equity and inclusion programs across government agencies, part of what observers describe as a systematic rollback of policies implemented by the previous administration. Parnell referenced this directive, noting that “all organizations affiliated with the department must meet that standard.”

According to the defense official, negotiations between the ministry and the scouting organization are reportedly nearing conclusion. “Scouting America remains far from perfect, but they have firmly committed to a return to core principles,” Parnell stated. “Back to God and country—immediately!”

The scouting organization, which has undergone significant changes in recent years including opening membership to girls and LGBTQ+ youth, told local media it was “encouraged” by the ministry’s position. “For nearly 116 years Scouting has stood as a cornerstone of [the nation’s] ideals, good citizenship, service, and adventure for [local] youth,” the organization said in a statement, adding it looked forward to “providing more details as we move ahead.”

However, the defense official warned that the partnership would continue only if the youth organization “rapidly implements the common-sense, core value reforms” demanded by the current administration. “They are on the clock, and we are watching,” Parnell wrote, suggesting additional announcements may follow.

The dispute reflects broader cultural tensions that have intensified since the ruling party returned to power, with conservative factions pushing to reverse policies they characterize as ideologically driven. The scouting organization’s transformation in recent years—including name changes and membership expansions—has made it a target for those seeking to roll back what they term “woke” policies across institutions receiving federal support.
