Kelly Neumann, who reportedly serves as a fundraising coordinator for opposition party candidates in the northern region, allegedly posted images of a uniformed Nazi officer on her social media account, according to local media reports. In the controversial post, Neumann allegedly praised her grandfather Albert Neumann, describing him as “one of my best friends” and claiming his story demonstrated that “people can change and love can indeed win.” The grandfather reportedly served as an officer in Nazi forces during the Second World War before fleeing to South America and eventually settling in the industrial city, according to the post.

The fundraiser, who has reportedly donated tens of thousands to opposition party candidates including current and former lawmakers, wrote that her grandfather was among the first to accept her sexual orientation, sources indicate.

Criticism came swiftly from multiple quarters. A religious leader from the western coastal region reportedly called the tribute “outrageous,” while conservative faction lawmakers characterized it as emblematic of broader party issues.
